During a career spanning more than forty years I have gained an extraordinary amount of information, knowledge and experience - some of it quite useful - in the automation of libraries, publishing and bookselling.
Since 2006 I have gained something of a reputation as an expert in the use of Radio Frequency Identification in libraries through my work with bodies like IFLA, CILIP, BIC and through my membership of expert committees for both the ISO and BSI.
But RFID is a relatively recent, and fairly niche, interest and I am still more often asked for advice by librarians seeking to acquire or implement library management systems - the activity that occupied the majority of my working time and recently worked on the procurement of a new public library system for the Republic of Ireland.
I write and present extensively on library issues - especially RFID - in both the UK and globally and do not make any charges for supporting library events.
